HISTORY

My passion for nature photography, art and sustainable living feel like a part of my DNA.  My earliest recollections, the things I remember most vividly, are scenes like seeing a gold finch for the first time and thinking it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.  Holding what we called “woolly bear” caterpillars ( which is actually the larval stage of the Isabella Tiger Moth) in my hand and feeling its feet as it tickled across my fingers was to me an experience like that of being in heaven.

I started taking photos in 8th grade, this is back in the day when you would have to have a camera to take pictures.  The middle school offered one elective each year and I chose photography.  You got to borrow an SLR camera from the school and had to develop the film and black and white photos on your own in the dark room.  It was quite a bit of work compared to what is needed to make a photograph today but it was worth it and I was hooked.

It should not surprise anyone that I majored in biology in college and worked on a masters in environmental heath.
